10 Social Media Marketing Tips And Ideas For The Holiday Season

11:46 PM Posted by Unknown No comments
It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year! With Halloween around the corner and Thanksgiving a little more than a month away, the holiday season is creeping up on us and will be here sooner than you think. While it’s almost time to start planning gifts and get togethers, it’s also important to start planning your holiday social media campaign.

Increase your social media engagement while getting your prospects in the holiday spirit with these 10 social media marketing tips and ideas:

1) Strategize early — Like I had mentioned earlier, the holidays will be here before you know it. Plan out your holiday marketing efforts now, because you know how easy it is to get wrapped up while closing out the year! Don’t let these opportunities pass you by amidst the chaos.

2) Brand your social media pages appropriately — Your home doesn’t have to be the only thing that’s decorated during the holidays! Keep your brand current by adding some cheer to your social media graphics, such as your Facebook and Twitter cover photos and icons.

3) Hold a contest or giveaway — Because who doesn’t like to win cash or prizes? It depends on your industry, but this is when your prospects are even more active on social media platforms. You have an increased chance of better follower visibility and engagement during this time.

‘Network of Champions’ initiated

3:10 AM Posted by Unknown No comments

WINDHOEK – A marketing business network aimed at sharing theoretical and practical knowledge on how to attain success in all facets of life was launched over the weekend.

The ‘Network of Champions Namibia’, the brain child of a University of Namibia (Unam) psychology lecturer, Dr Armas Abdul Malik Shikongo, was launched on Saturday.

‘Network of Champions Namibia’ intends to celebrate and share universal principles, concepts, practices and best models of success, according to the organisation’s vision statement.

The training will among others focus on the psychology of entrepreneurship, network marketing, psychology of success, financial intelligence education, personal development and leadership.

“We have a lot of successful people in Namibia. We would like to use it (Network of Champions Namibia) as a platform to expose people who have something to share in terms of knowledge and practices,” said Shikongo.

He said the idea of starting ‘Network of Champions Namibia’ was conceived when he was studying for his PhD between 2005 and 2009.

Shikongo will use the platform to share on the characteristics of successful people. He highlighted that successful people work hard. Successful people, he added, are not merely lucky.

“They (successful people) do things, they don’t just dream about things. I realised that a lot of people don’t want to be failures but the problem is sometimes we don’t know how to do things that will lead to success or we are not ambitious enough,” said Shikongo.

He further pointed out that successful people persevere, they take responsibility for their actions and are creative.

The CEO of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Tarah Shaanika, commended Shikongo for the initiative.

“I have always admired his (Shikongo’s) work ethic and his commitment to work. When he puts his work to something it succeeds,” he said.

Shaanika said the ‘Network of Champions Namibia’ is an important initiative considering that it intends to impact the lives of Namibians.

“Business is all about network. Successful people don’t believe they know it all, you can learn from anybody. Creating a network of people from all kinds of backgrounds is a very good idea and long overdue,” said Shaanika.

“I’m very excited about this and I hope this movement will grow like fire. There must be an impact of this network in every part of Namibia,” said Shaanika.

About ninety people witnessed the launch at a local traditional restaurant in Katutura.

Startup Funding Online: The 5 Success Factors

10:53 PM Posted by Unknown No comments
Online Jobs

In this article I’ve highlighted some of the most critical factors that drive successful startup fundraises online.

For a brief refresher, it was just over a year ago (September 2013) that we saw Title II of the JOBS Act kick off and unleash a powerful new market for startup funding online, also referred to as equity crowdfunding.

This new capital market created under Title II is showing rapid growth, even while the opportunity to invest is currently limited to accredited investors and institutions.

Restrictions keeping everyday people (non-accredited investors) from participating may be lifted at some point under Title III of the JOBS Act, though regulators have stalled to release final rules.

That said, startups and investors are not waiting on Title III. The new startup funding market is off to the races. Technology and automation are rapidly transforming the way investments in startups and small businesses are done – driven primarily by a few leading equity crowdfunding platforms.

Today we are seeing everyday individual investors getting to invest alongside VCs and super-angels online, often in the same deals and at the same terms as some of the worlds most experienced early stage investors.

Narendra Modi to launch three key labour reform initiatives

10:48 PM Posted by Unknown , , No comments
Modi will launche a single window system for labour law compliance, PF number portability and a revamped inspection system for companies on Thursday

New Delhi: Efforts to roll out labour reforms and make it easier for companies to do business in India are set to reach a milestone on Thursday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches a trio of key initiatives—a single window system for labour law compliance, provident fund (PF) number portability and a revamped inspection system for companies.

The labour ministry, which is hosting the event, said Modi’s Make In India mission will pick up speed if the nation’s archaic labour laws, seen as an impediment to manufacturing, are reformed and new initiatives are put in place.

This will be a “win-win for both the employees and employers”, a labour ministry official said on condition of anonymity. Modi launched the Make In India campaign on 25 September to promote manufacturing and create more jobs in the labour-intensive manufacturing sector.

A labour ministry note said Thursday’s programme “will be centred around five themes of ministry of labour and employment, including Unified Labour Portal and Labour Inspection Scheme in Central Sphere, (PF) Portability through Universal Account Number (UAN) for Employees’ Provident Fund, Apprentices Act, 1961, to improve training facilities to apprentices, the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) that supply skilled manpower to manufacturing industry, and competitions to foster the healthy spirit of competitiveness”.

Mint has reviewed a copy of the note.

Through the single window system, companies will be able to file just one return online for 16 labour laws, replacing the current system where returns are filed manually for each of the laws. “Once, the scheme is launched by the PM, we would talk to states so that more than 25 other laws under the state jurisdictions can be brought under one platform,” said the ministry official.

India has as many as 44 labour laws.

Employers post more than 200,000 online jobs

10:25 PM Posted by Unknown No comments
Illinois employers posted more than 212,100 help wanted ads on the Internet in September and 85 percent sought full-time workers, the Illinois Department of Employment Security said today, citing the independent Conference Board report.

Workers can apply for these jobs at IllinoisJobLink.com, the state’s help-wanted website managed by IDES. The website features a Resume Builder tool that will help workers build a resume and then immediately find job openings that match the worker’s skills.

“Illinois employers each month have consistently advertised for more than 200,000 job openings. That is a strong signal that employers need workers to fill current and future demand,” IDES Director Jay Rowell said. “As job growth continues, we must connect employers with workers who can demonstrate the skills and value that they will bring to an employer.”

Help wanted leaders include the Bloomington/Peoria region (10,300), Decatur/Springfield (6,900), Rockford Stateline (6,700) Champaign/Danville (5,800) and the Quad Cities (5,400). The Chicago metro area (166,300) always will lead the state because it has the greatest population of any Economic Development Region.

The Conference Board collects the Help Wanted Online data. The Conference Board is a global, independent business membership and research association. The data represents industries that post online job ads. Some industries, such as construction, do not typically post job openings online. The Conference Board writes that retiring baby boomers will create a labor shortage in some sectors.

Included in the data are 170,000 positions advertised on IllinoisJobLink.com. Job seekers can build multiple resumes to emphasize different skills and experiences. Business owners can use keyword matching technology to search resumes and find the best candidate. IllinoisJobLink.com is free for workers and employers and compares favorably to private efforts that cost hundreds of dollars.

IllinoisJobLink.com also includes the resume-enhancement tool Resunate. The tool compares skills articulated in a resume against skills sought in a help-wanted advertisement. The comparison produces a score on the potential success of the resume meeting the needs of the employer and being noticed by a hiring manager. Resunate offers suggestions on wording, formatting and design to build a clear, concise resume that aligns with the demands of the specific help-wanted advertisement.

3 Reasons Your Online Job Search Is Failing Miserably

10:23 PM Posted by Unknown No comments
If you’re looking for a job and depending on online tricks and tools to do the job, you might be waiting for longer than you expect before you hear, “You’re hired.” A pair of new surveys highlight the biggest mistakes and misconceptions job-seekers make when it comes to job-hunting online.

You use your smartphone instead of a computer. Jibe, a company that makes technology for job recruiters, finds that a full 20% of job applicants would give up on an online application if they couldn’t do it entirely on their phones. But unfortunately, it also finds that more than a quarter of big companies don’t have a single part of their hiring process set up to work well on a smartphone.

“Many passive job candidates, and especially the youngest members of the workforce, live a mobile-first or mobile-only existence. If you want to give yourself the best chance to land a job, relying on mobile may add significant risk,” says Joe Essenfeld, founder and CEO of Jibe. “Even though most job seekers expect mobile apply capabilities, enterprise systems are still working to catch up.”

You rely on Twitter and Facebook. If you’re seeking work, go to LinkedIn. A new study from social recruiting company Bullhorn Reach finds that only around 20% of recruiters use Facebook to find job candidates; about the same percentage use Twitter. LinkedIn is the overwhelming favorite, used by 97% of recruiters.

“Relying on just Twitter and Facebook without LinkedIn would be a mistake,” says Aravinda Rao Souza, Bullhorn’s senior marketing manager. “The real surprise is that Facebook isn’t more popular,” with recruiters, she says. “It really should be… Candidates love it because so many of them already essentially live on Facebook.” Rao says companies that use Facebook to find job candidates have a high degree of success, but until a majority of recruiters catch on and start using the social network’s broad reach and targeting abilities, you should probably keep looking on LinkedIn, too.

You give up too easily. Jibe’s research finds that nearly a quarter of candidates will give up on applying for any jobs at a company if they have a single bad experience with completing an online job application. If you’re serious about finding a new gig, this could amount to shooting yourself in the foot. “Job seekers should be cautiously optimistic because the technology is evolving quickly,” Essenfeld says.

Jibe also finds that more than half of job-seekers say they’d be deterred if an online application didn’t let them upload their resume — a problem that’s probably keeping an untold number of people from landing the jobs they want, according to Essenfeld. “Uploading a resume was the second highest challenge cited by job seekers in the survey,” he says. If you can’t upload your resume, call or email the company even if the job listing says not to, he suggests.

How To Start Measuring Your Internet Marketing Performance

11:23 PM Posted by Unknown No comments
You might have a killer digital marketing strategy that covers every content channel and speaks directly to each of your buyer personas, but plenty can still go wrong during the implementation process. Unfortunately, far too many marketing campaigns fall prey to a lack of attentiveness or responsiveness on the part of their stakeholders.

Ensure that yours does not meet this fate by carefully measuring its performance, identifying potential areas of weakness and applying the appropriate fixes before any problems become overwhelming.

Why Use Online Campaign Testing?

What you hope to get out of your digital marketing measurement efforts will depend on the goals of your campaign, and there are two basic reasons to test its performance.

First, you need to measure its effectiveness. Carefully tracking traffic, lead generation and conversion metrics helps you identify what your campaign is doing right. It can also help you sell the non-marketing decision-makers, including your company’s CFO, on the importance of a diversified digital presence.

3 Powerful Online Marketing Dashboard Tools

11:17 PM Posted by Unknown No comments
When it comes to growing your business, one of the most important things you can do is create the right kind of online marketing campaign. And it’s not just about search traffic anymore, either. Social media, email marketing, and other types of content marketing are essential for the business owner that wants to get his or her brand “out there.”

If you are looking for ways to manage your online marketing campaign, the right tools can make it happen. There are dashboard tools that can help you manage your campaign, and analyze its success. While it’s always tricky to nail down ROI from an online marketing campaign (especially social media), the right dashboard tools can provide you with what you need to at least see where you stand, and get a good idea of what works and what doesn’t. Then, you can tweak your approach going forward.

Govt to study global practices to check ponzi menace

11:11 PM Posted by Unknown No comments
As various ponzi schemes continue to defraud investors of hard-earned money, the government is seeking details from industry and regulators abroad about practices being followed there to check the menace.

A move is on by the government to amend Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) or (PCMCSB) Act. The comments on the amendments and the international legal and regulatory framework for regulation of Multi Level Marketing (MLM) companies and pyramid marketing companies have been obtained by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), official sources said.

The DFS has proposed for a comprehensive cabinet note and legal amendments after obtaining more industry and regulatory practices around the world independently. The process of getting details of global industry and regulatory practices is underway, they said.

The DFS has earlier circulated draft amendments PCMCSB Act, 1978, to various law and enforcement agencies for their views. Their views have been received and are being examined by it, the sources said.

The government was also considering forming a central nodal agency to deal with all kind of ponzi schemes, they said.

A typical ponzi scheme involves the operator collecting a large amount of money from investors and paying them returns from their own money or the money collected from subsequent investors, rather than from profit earned by the person or entity operating such a scheme.

Such activities came to be known as ponzi schemes after Charles Ponzi, who became notorious in the US in the 1920s for deploying this technique while promising 50 per cent return on investments in 45 days and 100 per cent within 90 days.

MLM company gobbles up Tk150 crore

11:04 PM Posted by Unknown , , No comments
The clients of the multipurpose company complained that the company amassed around Tk150 crore through its ten branches, including its main office at Noakhali Tower in Dhaka’s Noya Paltan

Clients of an MLM company were confounded as they found its offices closed down and its managing director, a local Jamaat leader named Anowarul Islam Anwar, went into hiding after transferring the power of attorney of all his properties to a couple of his relatives.

The clients of the multipurpose company complained that the company amassed around Tk150 crore through its ten branches, including its main office at Noakhali Tower in Dhaka’s Noya Paltan. Hundreds of clients of that company found its branches in Munshiganj closed on Monday and informed the law enforcers.

Sources said Magnet Multipurpose Company opened its offices in Sreenagar and Louhajang upazila in Mushiganj and in Dhohar upazila in Dhaka for money lending and multilevel marketing business in 2009. The company’s deputy managing director was Anwar’s wife Asma Anwar.

The company attracted a lot of clients by offering an excessive amount of interest on the money deposited at its fund and gathered a large sum of money when people started investing more in the company after getting the promised amount of interest returned to them in the first few months of its opening. Over the last few months, the company started making excuses for not returning the investors’ money, and Anwar absconded after handing over the power of attorney of all his properties to his relatives on September 25. Roksana Begum, one of the investors, said they hope the authorities concerned would take necessary stapes so that Anwar’s relatives would not be able to sell the properties.

Many of the employees found themselves in trouble as they too invested in the company. One such employee, Shamim    Ahmed Miraj said they were in immense trouble as they lost their investments and their jobs.

UNO of Sreenagar Shanara Begum said she was informed about the incident, but she can take actions only after receiving a written complaint. She assured that measures would be taken to prevent the selling of the Anwar’s transferred properties.  Police said if they receive formal complaints, they would take action.

Affilinet Launches Affiliate Marketing Survey to Improve Publisher Engagement

9:39 PM Posted by Unknown No comments

Modern affiliate marketing is on the verge of becoming a tale of two worlds. On one side you have the TV advertising publisher brands with their rapid growth and louder industry voice, while on the other is the smaller affiliates with their one or two-person teams.

As the larger publishers seek to dominate even more of the spotlight, there is a danger that smaller affiliates are being squeezed out by networks that have one eye on the balance sheet. Though of course, networks could perhaps be forgiven for concentrating resources on the part of the business that makes the most profit. One network that is concerned by this trend is affilinet, which has released a survey it hopes will provide more insight into the wants and needs of smaller affiliates and their own operations.
